Who Are We?
Rhino Ridge Outfitters, Inc. is the creation of Adam
Eyres and Ted Brown. As lifelong outdoor enthusiasts, they have turned
their hobbies into dual careers.
When not organizing and guiding tours for Rhino Ridge Outfitters, Inc.,
Adam is busy as an animal care specialist at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
near Glen Rose, Texas. After competing for several years in NORBA sponsored
mountain bike races, Adam created a successful weekend mountain bike program
at Fossil Rim in 1994 and continues to be its primary tour guide. It was
through mountain biking that Adam and Ted met. Ted put his master's degree
in fitness management to work as a self-employed personal fitness trainer
and speaker in Dallas, Texas. Discovering their mutual love of outdoor
sports and nature, they decided to team up to create Rhino Ridge Outfitters,
Inc. in 1997.
In 2005 Ted chose to pursue his personal training schedule more aggressively and Adam took over the company as the sole shareholder. Ted continues to be involved in some tours and as a part time guide.
In addition to his years of experience on bikes and
in the water, Adam recognizes the importance of safety. Adam's an EMT and trained in sea kayaking rescue techniques. He also participates in all the kayak training opportunities he can throughout the year. He is also trained in sea kayaking rescue techniques. Ted is a water safety
instructor trainer and lifeguard training instructor trainer. He has CPR
training and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist who has
attained the difficult goal of Eagle Scout. Both are P.A.D.I. certified
S.C.U.B.A. divers, and American Canoe Association certified instructors.

Equipment
Kayaks—We provide
all kayaking equipment, including the kayak, paddle, spray skirt, and
bilge pump. If you prefer to bring your own kayak, please let us know
at the time you make your reservation. We will transport private kayaks
from Glen Rose to the destination.
Bicycles—Due to the substantial
differences in how bikes perform, we request that you bring your own bike.
We want you to have the maximum level of comfort and confidence during
your rides. We also require that you provide your own helmet.

Meals & Lodging
We have carefully chosen accommodations that offer
hearty and appetizing breakfasts--some even provide all our meals. However,
most of our itineraries allow us to sample the lunch and dinner fare in
the best of local eateries. When out on the water for the entire day,
our guides and support team prepare some impressive alfresco lunches.
If you have special dietary needs, please be sure to indicate them on
your registration form. We are especially proud of the comfortable, quality
accommodations that you will find on all of our tours, whether it is a
bed & breakfast, lodge, or cabins. We want you to be relaxed and refreshed
as you head out for each day's adventure. Some of our trips involve camping
and you'll need to provide that equipment.

Group Sizes
We limit our tour group size to around 12 guests. Some
trips can handle a few more, some a couple less, but we want to be able
to provide individual attention and instruction.

Accommodating Different Skills and Fitness Levels
The comfort and safety of our guests is our primary
concern. Our tours are designed to be small so that we can provide individual
attention and instruction. Consequently, we are able to accommodate a
fairly wide range of skill and fitness levels. If you are unsure of your
abilities, please call us. We are always happy to assist you in determining
which of our tours would be best for you.
|
|
Environmental Awareness
We are very sensitive to the environmental impact of
our tours and strive for minimal disturbance of the flora and fauna in
the regions we visit. To help ensure the continued preservation of these
areas, 10% of our net income from each tour is donated to a conservation
effort located in the area. Guests may choose from a list of several organizations
that their money can go to support.
